Welcome!

Horse Travel Books exists to encourage you to undertake a life-changing equestrian journey.

The company was started by Basha and CuChullaine O'Reilly as a natural outgrowth of The Long Riders' Guild, the world's first international organisation of equestrian explorers and long-distance travellers, which we helped to form.

The books we publish reflect what we ourselves passionately believe in - fewer physical possessions, individual freedom, the ancient bond between human and equine, and the mutual search with our horses for personal growth and boundless geographic horizons.

So the mission of Horse Travel Books was to put all the great equestrian travel tales into print, in their original languages, for the first time in human history.

There are more thrilling (but horse-less) travel tales on our sister website, Classic Travel Books, and much more equestrian wisdom and history on The Long Riders Guild Academic Foundation, the world’s first open-source academic website devoted to the study of all aspects of hippological influence in the arts and sciences.  .

Think of somewhere you have always wanted to visit or learn about, then click on one of the links on the left and read about an astonishing and inspiring collection of mounted travel adventures!
